The Polsek Tambora Dismantle the Kentung Network’s Mortgage Syndicate

The stolen motorbike will be sent by the Si Kentung network of theft syndicate using a truck expedition to Lampung.

Jakarta – The Tambora Police Investigation Unit uncovered the activities of the Umay alias Si Kentung network of motorized vehicle theft (curanmor) syndicates. This network was uncovered after the police managed to stop an expeditionary truck carrying 8 stolen motorbikes at the Cikupa Toll Gate, Tangerang, on Saturday, (29/7) early last morning. The motorbikes will be brought to Lampung.

Kapolsek Tambora, Kompol Putra Pratama told reporters on Monday, (31/7), that a truck driver named A Ngurah Yudi (31) and his net assistant, April Parendra (23) had been arrested. They receive wages from a crime syndicate.

“The truck driver and kernet receive money for transporting a stolen motorbike with a wage of Rp700,000,” said Kompol Putra.

Of all the motorbike units brought to Lampung, the driver and the truck received a reward of Rp5.6 million. And this driver and helper know if these motorbikes are the result of theft.

“They know that the motorbikes that were brought in are the proceeds of crime so the motorbikes are hidden in the back of a truck with sacks and household items piled up such as mattresses, cupboards, chairs and plastic buckets, then covered with an orange tarpaulin,” he explained.

Regarding the figure of Umay alias Kentung who is the big boss of collecting stolen motorbikes in this case, Kompol Putra said that Kentung had been involved in this illegal business about 10 months ago. L

“The Kentung is a big player in the criminal act of receiving money. It has been going on for about 10 months,” said Kompol Putra.

He said the stolen motorbikes would be sent to Lampung on orders from other traders with DPO status, namely Suprat, Tempo, Anton and Febri.

“One month Kentung can send between 16 to 24 motorbikes. One delivery can be 8 to 12 motorbikes,” Kompol Putra said.

Currently, Kentung has become a suspect and has been detained in this case. He was charged with Article 481 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) with a maximum threat of 7 years in prison.

Apart from Kentung and driver A Ngurah Yudi (31) and his net assistant, April Parendra (23), the Tambora Police have also arrested three other suspects in this case. There are still 7 more suspects who are being pursued and are currently on the wanted list (DPO).

The seven DPOs each played a role as collectors of 4 people, 2 people as executors, and one other suspect who played the role of making fake number plates and STNKs.

“A total of 13 suspects have been identified. Six have been caught and seven other suspects are on the DPO and we are hunting for them,” said Kompol Putra.
