Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya deployed 1,318 personnel to secure the plenary meeting to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates who will compete in the 2024 presidential election at the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), Monday, (13/11) afternoon.
“Yes, for security, we have deployed 1,318 joint personnel,” said Kabid Humas of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, to reporters.
It was said that the 1,318 joint personnel consisted of 338 Satgasda personnel, 30 Satgasres personnel and 900 BKO personnel from Kodam Jaya, Korsabhara and Korbrimob.
Apart from that, continued Kombes Pol Trunoyudo, Polda Metro Jaya is also preparing traffic engineering (traffic) around the KPU Office.
“We carry out traffic engineering situationally to smooth traffic flow,” he said.
Separately, the National Campaign Team (TKN) Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, also appealed to supporters not to attend the KPU when determining the list of presidential and vice presidential candidates.
The Chair of the Prabowo-Gibran TKN Strategic Coordinator, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said this was to avoid potential clashes.
“We appeal, once again, to Prabowo-Gibran supporters, there is no need to come to the KPU,” he said as quoted by Kompas TV.
“Because there was information and allegations that it was vulnerable to clashes between the pro and con masses, as well as the masses and existing law enforcement officers, to create a non-conducive atmosphere,” he added.
Due to this, Dasco also asked all members and political parties in TKN to continue this appeal.
According to him, supporters do not need to attend the Indonesian KPU, because the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) have been declared eligible to run for the presidential election.
In fact, said the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP, there was no decision that would prevent the progress of Prabowo-Gibran.
“Because there was information and allegations that it was vulnerable to clashes between the pro and con masses, as well as the masses and existing law enforcement officers, to create a non-conducive atmosphere,” he added.
