Jakarta – For the third time, West Pasaman students returned to the Polri Headquarters. Just like the two previous arrivals, on the third arrival, last Friday, (17/11), the students again voiced the same demands. The students demanded that the Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, immediately close down the illegal gold mines in West Pasaman district, then immediately arrest the perpetrators of the mining and summon and examine the officers involved as an umbrella for this activity.
The students also voiced their concerns about illegal mining activities it has been carried out for years on the Batang Batahan River and Batang Taming River. As a result of this illegal mining, river water which has been used for daily activities has become cloudy and damaged the river ecosystem.
In his speech, the action coordinator, Ali Hasan, also asked the Kapolri to immediately remove the Kapolda Sumbar, Irjen Pol Suharyono and the Wakapolda Sumbar Brigjen Pol Edi Mardianto because they were strongly suspected of being involved as the main security actors in the illegal mining activities.
Furthermore, Ali Hasan also said that if the government and authorities do not pay attention or are unable to close it, then the people of Ranah Batahan will take action to close it down.
This remark was immediately greeted firmly with shouts of “yes” by the demonstration participants.
“We also asked all members of the Polda Sumbar, Polres Pasbar Police and Polsek Ranah Batahan to immediately be summoned and carry out an inspection. Because they have been down several times, this activity is still operating. What happened?” shouted Ali Hasan in his speech.
“It doesn’t stop there. This illegal mining game occurred due to the supply of oil which allegedly came from the police officers who supplied it. Because it is impossible for an activity to operate without ammunition,” continued Ali Hasan.
Ali Hasan also said that if in the near future their demands are not realized and followed up, then they will take further action to the Polri Headquarters and the Istana Negara. Bembo
