Polda Metro Prepares a Team of Doctors and Psychologists to Handle Domestic Violence Cases in Depok

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol. Hengki Haryadi

Jakarta – The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) Polda Metro Jaya will prepare a team of doctors and psychologists to handle cases of domestic violence (KDRT) for married couples in Depok, West Java.

The prepared medical team will be on duty to study the wounds of the victim again, including the suspect’s husband.

“We have prepared a team of doctors and psychologists,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol. Hengki Haryadi during a press conference, in Jakarta, last Friday (26/5).

“Is the wound a direct result of what the wife did or not?” continued the Kombes Pol Hengki.

It was said that the medical team was dispatched because husband B experienced significant swelling in a sensitive area due to the actions of his wife, PB.

In addition, he continued, after further investigation, it was found that this case of abuse was not the first time it had been committed by B.

“After we learned, this abuse of a wife or victim was not just once. In 2016, it turned out that there had been a report but that there was ‘restorative justice’ (peace),” explained this jasmine officer who graduated from the 1996 Battalion Wira Satya Police Academy.

Furthermore, Kombes Pol Hengki also said, to ensure objectivity in this investigation process, his party has collaborated with stakeholders who are related to this case.

“Involving the National Commission on Violence Against Women, then the UPTD PPA (Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children) DKI Jakarta, then involving the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, then if necessary we will coordinate with the LPSK (Witness and Victim Protection Agency),” he explained.

The former West Jakarta and Central Jakarta Kapolres also said that regardless of the legal process being carried out, his party would still prioritize resolving this case with restorative justice.

“As stated by the Kapolda, because in this law on domestic violence one of the spirits in the principles and goals is the integrity of the household, of course, is there really a desire for ‘restorative justice’, we open space,” he emphasized. Bembo
