Surabaya – Polda Jawa Timur asked the local government to budget for the installation of doorstops on train direct crossing routes (JPL). This request is related to the number of traffic accidents at the JPL railway level crossing.
This was conveyed by the Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the Polda Jawa Timur, Kombes Pol Komarudin at the Polda Jawa Timur Headquarters, Thursday, (4/1) yesterday.
Kombes Pol Komarudin said, that until now there are still many JPLs found without doorstops in several districts and cities in East Java.
“This really endangers the safety of people passing through JPL trains,” he said.
He also said, that regarding this issue the Polda Jawa Timur had held a coordination meeting with the regional government and existing stakeholders to address this problem.
“The conclusion at the meeting stated that the need to install doorstops at the railway JPL is very urgent and must be built immediately,” explained Kombes Pol Komarudin.
Regarding the construction of doorstops on the JPL railway, he continued, the district/city governments in East Java are expected to immediately budget for it in the 2024 fiscal year.
“Previously, we also carried out an evaluation. Of the approximately 669 JPLs that do not yet have doorstops, there are still 11 JPL points that have just been built in all areas of East Java,” said Kombes Pol Komarudin.
He also said, that in accordance with Minister of Transportation Regulation Number Pm 94 of 2018, the authority to construct hundreds of railroad crossings is the responsibility of the local district/city government.
“For this reason, according to the direction of the Kapolda Jawa Timur, we are coordinating with the district/city regional government to note this in 2023,” he said. Bembo
