Jakarta – Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo asked the Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto and his staff to prepare themselves to face a pre-trial lawsuit from former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri at the South Jakarta District Court.
As is known, Firli has been named a suspect by the Polda Metro Jaya in connection with alleged extortion in handling corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in 2021.
“Yesterday it was conveyed that there are pretrial stages that will be taken. Of course, investigators must also prepare as well as possible,” said Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo to journalists in Central Jakarta, Monday, (27/11).
Kapolri Listyo Sigit admitted that he did not care about the legal steps taken by Firli Bahuri. Because, this effort is the right of every suspect.
Even so, the Kapolri still reminded Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto and his staff to explain the entire investigation process that was underway.
“So that when the (pretrial) process is underway, the investigation can be accounted for. I think that’s normative, yes. The SOP is like that,” explained the Kapolri.
As we all know, former KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri fought back. He did not accept being named a suspect by Polda Metro Jaya in the alleged blackmail case against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
Therefore, Firli Bahuri filed a pretrial for his suspect status against the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto.
The pretrial lawsuit was registered at the South Jakarta District Court on Friday, (24/11). In this lawsuit, the applicant is former KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri who was represented by his legal advisor, Ian Iskandar and friends. Meanwhile, the respondent is Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto.
South Jakarta District Court Public Relations Officer, Djuyamto, confirmed the existence of the lawsuit.
“On Friday, November 24 2023, the South Jakarta District Court’s criminal clerkship received a pretrial application in the name of applicant Firli Bahuri,” said Djuyamto in a written statement, Friday, (24/11) evening.
Djuyamto explained that the Chairman of the South Jakarta District Court had appointed single judge Imelda Herawati to examine and try the judicial case. The initial pretrial hearing is scheduled for December 11, 2023. Bembo
