Jakarta – The Koes Plus extended family has officially declared its prohibition against the T’Koes Band from performing songs by Koes Plus. This prohibition applies to both commercial and non-commercial purposes.
The ban on T’Koes Band from performing Koes Plus songs was based on the offense of the Koes Plus extended family over the circulation of a video of a conversation between someone suspected of being a retired officer and T’Koes Band. The video is considered to have damaged the honor and dignity of Koes Plus’ big name.
“This ban is not merely a matter of royalties, but more about the ethics, etiquette and manners of the Koes Plus preservation band, in this case T’Koes Band towards the big name and good name of our parents as one of the legendary bands in Indonesia, ” said David Koeswoyo, son of the late Yon Koeswoyo, to journalists in Te Balik Kopi, South Jakarta, Thursday, (28/8) afternoon.
Sari Koeswoyo, as the daughter of Yok Koeswoyo, also added that it was hoped that the decision to prohibit T’Koes Band from performing Koes Plus songs would be a lesson for all, especially conservation bands anywhere throughout Indonesia, including those abroad. .
“Declaring that the Koes Plus extended family forbade and did not give permission to T’Koes Band to perform creative works from the Koes Plus extended family,” stressed Sari Koeswoyo.
Sari also said that the Koes Plus family often received a track record of T’Koes’ statements that the band had made a verbal agreement with Koes Plus members and other claims.
“They [claim] to be Koes’ grandchildren, doesn’t that mean they are our children? They are not our children,” said Sari irritably.
Damon Koeswoyo, son of mediaman Tonny Koeswoyo also chimed in. He emphasized that the ban on the T’Koes Band performing Koes Plus songs was valid forever. There is no longer any way to try to make peace or find an alternative solution.
“The decision of the Koes Plus extended family towards T’Koes Band is final. There will be no more way for them to try to reconcile with us,” he said.
Regarding this, it would be good for us to also know T’Koes as a band that was affected by this ban. T’Koes Band was founded by a big fan of Koes Plus, Agusta Marzall. He introduced the band T’Koes to the public in 2007. The name T’Koes means “Inspired by Koes Plus”.
Agusta does not have any blood or kinship with Koes Plus personnel. However, during his childhood, Agusta often watched the legendary band practice.
Currently, Agusta is T’Koes’ drummer, while the other personnel, namely Ghali Marzall, Jaru Marzall, and Jim Marzall, are Agusta’s three children. When performing, T’Koes not only performs Koes Plus songs, but also several legendary Indonesian songs.
In appearance, T’Koes imitates Koes Plus’ style, with long hair and retro clothes. Agusta said, there is a philosophy behind it.
T’Koes also has his own musical works. In 2015, T’Koes released a mini album in CD format, but only around 30 thousand copies circulated among the community. T’Koes also introduced his original single. Bembo
