Jakarta – Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator, Yudhi Purnomo, has high hopes that Polda Metro Jaya will quickly detain the inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri, who is already a suspect. Firli is a suspect in the alleged extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
“It is time for Polda Metro Jaya to detain the person concerned because the filing process is just being completed,” said Yudhi Purnomo, Wednesday, (27/12).
“My big hope is that Polda Metro Jaya will quickly arrest Firli Bahuri. Don’t let the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office take that action during stage 2 of the handover,” he added.
According to Yudhi, currently the investigators’ objective and subjective reasons have been fulfilled as a basis for detaining Firli.
He also said that even if there were clues to the crime that Firli allegedly committed, it was not a major clue.
“Objective reasons have been achieved. We know that corruption cases carry a sentence of more than 5 years. And we know that Firli was charged with multiple articles. Not just one chapter but three chapters. Starting from gratification, extortion, and accepting bribes. So all conditions for detention have been met,” he said.
“Hopefully the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto with all his integrity will hear and understand this hope and then grant it,” he continued hopefully.
Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri’s attorney, Ian Iskandar, is quite confident that his client will not be detained after undergoing additional examination at the Bareskrim Polri today, Wednesday, (27/12).
According to Ian, Firli’s detention was not necessary because his client had been cooperative.
“No (not detained, -ed). We’re cooperative. “We’re not going to cooperate with all of our investigators’ requests,” he said confidently.
Ian then told how cooperative Firli Bahuri was in sending a notification letter to investigators when he was unable to attend the examination on Thursday, (21/12) last week.
“Even if we were unable to fulfill yesterday’s summons, we will provide reasons in writing as regulated by the Criminal Procedure Code,” he said.
Firli has been named a suspect in the alleged blackmail case against SYL.
Firli is suspected of violating Article 12 e and/or Article 12B and/or Article 11 of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Bembo
