Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya distributed 10,000 books to support increasing literacy culture as well as commemorating the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
Polda Metro Jaya distributed these books through the Polres and Polsek ranks in stages from 23-27 August 2023 to orphanages, schools and Islamic boarding schools in the DKI Jakarta area.
“We distributed everything,” said Karo SDM Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Langgeng Purnomo when handing over 50 books of various titles to the Book Daulah House in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Thursday, (24/8).
One of them, said Langgeng, was a book entitled “Reconstruction of Nationalism” which was discussed in depth by several intellectual figures and interfaith leaders at the moment of commemorating the birthday of Pancasila, June 1, 2023 at the Youth Museum, Central Jakarta.
“Apart from increasing literacy culture, this activity is also expected to be able to ward off radicalism, especially in the younger generation,” said Kombes Pol Langgeng.
Previously, Kombes Pol Langgeng also distributed 500 books of his work entitled “Reconstruction of Nationalism, National Identity Knitting the Archipelago to Create World Peace”.
The books were distributed throughout the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya, from the end of Bekasi to the City of Tangerang.
The book, he said, emphasizes the need to return to the identity of the Indonesian nation, where the younger generation is able to become the driving force.
“The rise of the phenomenon of radicalism is currently making me concerned and moved to participate in fighting against this latent danger,” he said.
On the same occasion, Musoffa Ikhsan, the manager of the Daulah Buku House, said the movement was an effort to re-promote a culture of liking to read, especially among young people, as well as re-planting national values imbued with faith and humanity.
“There are still many Indonesian young people who are lazy to read and prefer to surf in cyberspace,” said Mustofa.
This, said Mustafa, caused a lack of filtering of information that reached young people, so it was very dangerous for the future of the Indonesian nation.
“With the book distribution movement initiated by the Chief of Police, it is hoped that the culture of liking to read in Indonesia can increase,” said Mustofa.
In addition, the distribution of these books can provide positive value input, especially for Indonesia’s younger generation and in order to ward off the dangers of radicalism. Bembo
