Jakarta – The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has taken over all cases against academician and political observer Rocky Gerung. In total, the police received 13 reports against Rocky from the regional police.
Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro said all reports were withdrawn because they had the same report object.
“All police reports (LP) were withdrawn to the National Police Headquarters because the object of the case and the reported parties were all the same. We are in the process of taking over,” he told media crew, Monday, (7/8).
He then detailed, the 13 reports against Rocky consisted of one report at Bareskrim Polri, three reports at Polda Metro Jaya, three reports at Polda North Sumatra (North Sumatra), three reports at Polda East Kalimantan (Kaltim), and three reports at Central Kalimantan Police (Central Kalimantan).
Then, there was another complaint against Rocky which was addressed directly to the National Police Chief, General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and another complaint at the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Police.
Regarding all these reports and complaints, Bareskrim will certainly conduct an investigation.
“Regarding the 13 prisons and these two complaints, we are the police starting to carry out an investigation,” said Brigadier General Djuhuandhani.
He also said that his party would investigate reports regarding the alleged spread of fake news that was allegedly carried out by Rocky.
This report against Rocky is the result of his statement which is considered by some to contain elements of hatred based on SARA and insult President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“Related to spreading fake news then where is meant in Articles 14, 15 of Law (UU) Number 1 of 1946,” he said.
Judging from the regulation, Articles 14 and 15 regulate the issue of false reporting which then creates a commotion.
Previously, Rocky Gerung’s statement, which was considered insulting to Jokowi, was also broadcast on Refly Harun’s YouTube account. The clip of the video has also been widely shared on social media.
The statement allegedly insulting President Jokowi was conveyed by Rocky through his oration during the Grand Consolidation event for the Million Workers Action Alliance with the All Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI) in Bekasi on Saturday, (29/7).
Rocky alluded to President Jokowi’s move, which according to him went to China to offer the Archipelago Capital (IKN).
