Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Dismantles Fake Drug and Supplement Dealer Network in Online Shop

Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya held a press conference regarding the disclosure of the counterfeit drug case in front of the Polda Metro Jaya Ditreskrimum Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, (31/5).

Jakarta – The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) Polda Metro Jaya dismantled a network of distribution of drugs without a distribution permit and counterfeit supplements sold through online shops.

The five suspects in this network were arrested from nine locations along with evidence, 366 bottles of liquid medicine for the Interlac and Ventolin Inhaler brands, 74,515 drugs for various brands, and 2,180 ointments for the brands Baycuten N and Dermovate.

Direskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Auliansyah Lubis said, the five perpetrators arrested were, namely IB (31), I (32), FS (28), FZ (19), and S (62). This case was dismantled by its ranks based on four reports that entered the police.

“The five were arrested without a fight. They are selling ‘G’ list drugs (hard drugs) which are suspected of not having a distribution permit individually and without a doctor’s prescription. This includes selling medication for asthma with the Ventolin Inhaler brand allegedly without a distribution permit,” Auliansyah explained during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Wednesday, (31/5).

“And they have been running this illegal business from March 2021-May 2023 with a turnover of IDR130.4 billion,” he continued.

To account for his actions, still said Auliansyah, the five suspects who are now in cages are sure to be subject to multiple criminal articles so they give up.

They were charged with Article 60 point 10 in conjunction with number 4 in relation to Article 197 in conjunction with Article 106 of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning the Stipulation of Government Regulation in lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation for Amendments to Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health. The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison.

Then also subject to Article 62 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph 1 letter a and/or paragraphs 2 and 3 of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection with the same penalty, maximum imprisonment of 5 years.

And finally, Article 102 of Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Geographical Indications, also with a maximum threat of 5 years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 2 billion.

In a press conference for this case, one of the victims, namely the drug producer PT Interbat, also showed their product, Interlac, and compared the original product with the counterfeit product. Bembo
