Bantul – Wakapolri Komjen Pol Agus Andrianto attended social and health service event in the context of the 2023-2024 Peaceful Election at the Multipurpose Building of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI Jogja), Sewon, Bantul, Wednesday, (29/11).

During his visit, Komjen Pol Agus Andrianto inevitably received many questions from journalists. Starting from the neutrality of the Polri in the 2024 Election to rumors that he will be appointed as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to replace Budi Gunawan.

Questioning the neutrality of the Polri in the 2024 Election, Wakapolri Komjen Pol Agus stated, that please report it immediately to Police Professional and Security Division (Propam).

“It was just reported that this Propam Division Head (Head of Division) happened to be there,” said Wakapolri Agus Andrianto.

He said, in accordance with Article 28 of Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the National Police, in paragraph 1 it is stated that the Polri of the Republic of Indonesia is neutral in political life and does not involve itself in practical political activities.

Then Article 2 also confirms that members of the Polri do not exercise their right to vote and be elected.

“In accordance with statutory provisions, the police are neutral,” said Wakapolri Agus Andrianto.

The neutrality of the Polri, continued the Wakapolri, is also regulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 2 of 2003 concerning Disciplinary Regulations for Police Members. Article 5 Letter B states that, in order to maintain state and social life, members of the Polri are prohibited from carrying out practical political activities.

This was then reaffirmed in Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 Article 4 Letter H, where it is stated that every Polri official in state ethics is obliged to be neutral in political life.

Wakapolri Agus Andrianto’s firmness in answering questions about the neutrality of the Polri in the 2024 Election deserves a thumbs up. However, the story was different when it came to questions about rumors that he would be appointed as Head of BIN.

“Oh, oh, I don’t know. I don’t know,” said Wakapolri Agus briefly. Bembo
