Jakarta – Investigators from the Sub-Directorate of Renakta Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya will summon the organizers of Miss Universe Indonesia 2023. The summons is related to reports of alleged coercion of body checking and being photographed naked as a finalist at the event.
“Yes, we will certainly ask for information from (organizers) next,” said Plh Kasubdit Renakta Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya Kompol Yuliansyah, Tuesday, (8/8).
Even so, he has not explained when the inspection will be carried out.
“Today, prepare mindik (investigation administration) and contact the complainant directly. We will ask for information. After that, we will know what the victim’s version of the story looks like,” he said.
As is known, the police report (LP) for the finalist Miss Universe Indonesia 2023 has been registered with the number LP/B/4598/VII/2023 SPKT POLDA METRO JAYA. The reported party in this case is PT Capella Swastika Karya.
Victims report against Articles 4, 5 and 6 of the TPKS Law. They also included Articles 14 and 15 of the TPKS Law. The victim’s attorney, Mellisa Anggraeni, said that the sexual harassment occurred on August 1.
Mellisa said her client felt aggrieved because the stages of the body checking and being photographed naked were never notified.
“So this body checking was never in the event rundown, suddenly they were confronted as if they were being held at gunpoint by having to do a body checking enough to make our client feel that his dignity has been humiliated,” Mellisa told reporters at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Monday, (7/8) yesterday.
Mellisa regretted that competition that should elevate women’s dignity actually made victims the objects of harassment.
“Competition events that are supposed to elevate the value of women especially, but instead are treated like objects so today thank God we have received our report at the SPKT regarding an alleged criminal act of sexual violence,” he explained.
