Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya deployed 2,348 personnel to secure the grand event of the U-17 World Cup. Of this number, as many as 200 personnel will serve as stewards or security on the sidelines.
Karo Ops Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Marsudianto said, of the 200 personnel prepared as stewards, FIFA only allows 50 steward personnel for each match.
“FIFA only gave permission for that amount to our stewards. The rest is FIFA’s responsibility and authority,” said Pol Kombes Marsudianto to topikonline.co.id in his office, Friday, (10/11) afternoon.
Furthermore, he also said that all personnel serving as stewards were ‘combat ready’. The 200 personnel have been intensively trained for two days at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) by local steward instructors of international quality, namely Kombes Pol Murry Miranda from Mabes Polri and steward instructors from FIFA.
He said again that overall Polda Metro Jaya was only permitted by FIFA to carry out security in Zone 3. Meanwhile, security in Zone 1 which covers the field to the stands and Zone 2 which has the perimeter up to the stadium fence is FIFA’s responsibility.
“So for your information, the 2,348 Polda Metro personnel who are involved in security, all work in Zone 3 or outside the stadium. Only 200 steward personnel have permission to work inside the stadium. But that also takes turns because only 50 people are on duty at each match ,” explained the middle-ranking officer who graduated Pratisara Wirya Police Academy Battalion 1992. Bembo
