Cianjur – The Kapolri Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo visited patients who were victims of the Cianjur earthquake at the hospital (RS), evacuation posts and public kitchens. The Kapolri wants to ensure that the affected communities have received assistance from the police and other related parties.
The Kapolri emphasized that the police ranks together with other related parties had immediately moved to provide the assistance needed for the people affected by the natural disaster.
“So I want to check directly, the activities of friends who have started moving since last night. Earlier I asked Mr. Doctor how everything was going well between the regional hospital and our medical personnel. Thank God, all cooperation has gone well. ,” explained the Kapolri Listyo Sigit after observing patients at the Sayang Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday (11/22).
Going deeper, the Kapolri Listyo Sigit also said that his review this time was to ensure whether assistance such as food, public kitchens, clean water, evacuation posts and health facilities were running properly and optimally in providing assistance to earthquake victims.
Not only that, the Kapolri also stated that he had coordinated directly with the police personnel assigned to the evacuation process of the earthquake victims. According to him, the ranks of the Bhayangkara Corps and other parties have worked optimally in this process.
“Hopefully we can do as much as possible what we can do, to help the people affected by the disaster. And of course this is sorrow and condolences for all of us,” he said.
In his review, one that the Kapolri continued to focus on was health facilities for victims who were injured seriously enough to require medical operations. Related to this, the Kapolri continued to say, the TNI, Polri, hospitals and private hospitals have collaborated to prioritize this for victims who need assistance.
“Mostly because there were several conditions due to the earthquake, operations such as operations that had to be carried out immediately could not be carried out because there might be a building condition which of course was not ready or needed repairs. Earlier we asked for an operation to be carried out at our Bhayangkara hospital which was ready and That’s what we do,” he explained.
“Of course, I think all hospitals belonging to the TNI are ready and all private hospitals besides RSUD will cooperate. What is important is how to treat existing patients, especially those whose conditions are quite critical and steps must be taken immediately,” he added.
On the other hand, the Kapolri revealed that the police would also provide psychological assistance or trauma healing to the community. In particular, children who were victims of the earthquake.
“We are preparing a team from psychology to do trauma healing, especially in evacuation sites and hospitals. And there are also many children, and that is part of what we are doing to at least provide motivation and enthusiasm in a situation that is being hit by a disaster,” he explained.
He also added, after focusing on evacuating earthquake victims, later police personnel would also be asked to carry out security in abandoned residents’ homes to avoid potential crimes.
“Of course, after this I asked the Chief of Police (West Java) to participate in carrying out patrols, especially in abandoned houses to avoid potential crimes,” said the Chief of Police at the end of his statement. bembo
