Jakarta – A total of 111 police personnel were dispatched abroad to secure Overseas Voting Places (TPSLN), Monday (29/1). The departure of these personnel was released by the Kabaharkam Polri, Komjen Pol Mohammad Fadil Imran.
Komjen Pol Fadil who currently also serves as Head of Operations for Mantap Brata 2024 advised the personnel to carry out their duties well.
He also said, as mandated by the Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the hundreds of personnel who departed must carry out their duties properly. Not only securing the TPSLN, but also coordinating with TPSLN officers and the Indonesian Embassy.
“Earlier, the Kapolri’s message was conveyed to really uphold their duties properly, to provide good security, coupled with coordination. Because the task of personnel at TPSLN is not only to secure the voting process, but also to carry out initial coordination between TPSLN officers and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia ” said Komjen Pol Fadil after the Pre Departure Briefing (PDB) and Departure Call for the PAM TPSLN Task Force for Operation Mantap Brata 2024 at the Serpong Polri International Mission Center, Banten.
He also said, that the 111 released personnel would be sent to Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia. The TPSLN locations where they will work will not only be at the Indonesian Embassy and the Consulate General, but some will also be held outside the embassy. Therefore, he continued, it is important to coordinate with the Embassy and local state authorities.
With all the limitations that exist at overseas voting locations, Komjen Pol Fadil hopes that the 2024 election process can run well. He also said that there were 2.3 million Indonesian citizens who would vote abroad.
All personnel on duty have also been well prepared in case there are contingencies. Moreover, the National Police’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter) together with the KPU, Bawaslu and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have provided technical guidance.
“A brief description of the placement of personnel at each TPSLN will of course be adjusted to regional characteristics, number of voters, distance from the embassy and so on,” said Komjen Pol Fadil.
The Polri, he continued, has also followed all the rules, both from the KPU and regulations from neighboring countries. For example, during the voting security process, members did not wear official uniforms, only wore ordinary civilian uniforms and were equipped with vests.
He also hopes that there will be no obstacles like those faced in the 2019 elections. Where there is a shortage of ballot papers and long queues of people wanting to vote.
“But all of this has been anticipated by the team in synergy with the KPU, in synergy with the foreign ministry so that problems like this can be resolved,” stressed Komjen Pol Fadil. Bembo
