Jakarta – The Indonesian National Army (TNI) took part in emergency response efforts to help residents affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This incident has had serious consequences. The TNI together with related agencies immediately moved quickly to provide assistance to people in need.
This was conveyed by the Kapuspen TNI, Mayjen TNI Nugraha Gumilar, at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Monday, (8/1).
Continuing with the Kapuspen TNI, the TNI emergency management team has been deployed to provide medical assistance, evacuation and distribution of basic necessities to affected residents. TNI personnel, with adequate skills and equipment, also work closely with related parties to ensure good coordination to help communities in need.
“The TNI has also set up health tents since the eruption of Mount Lewotobi since January 1 2024, and held a public kitchen since January 5 2024,” explained the Kapuspen TNI, Mayjen TNI Nugraha Gumilar in his statement.
He also said, that the TNI together with the local government continue to monitor developments in the situation and are ready to provide further assistance. This is in line with the embodiment of TNI PRIMA (Professional, Responsive, Integrative, Modern and Adaptive) which was echoed by the Panglima TNI, Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto.
“The TNI responds quickly to disasters. All elements of the TNI are ready to support recovery and reconstruction efforts after the eruption of Mount Lewotobi in NTT,” said the Kapuspen TNI.
He said, Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto had also said that the TNI’s involvement in this emergency situation was part of the TNI’s quick response to always be present to maintain security, overcome people’s difficulties and public welfare. The Panglima TNI also emphasized that the TNI will continue to synergize with local governments and related agencies to provide optimal assistance.
Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto, continued Kapuspen TNI, also invited all parties to unite to help the victims of this disaster.
