President Jokowi Predicted to Appoint Letjen TNI Maruli Simanjuntak as KSAD Today

Jakarta – As previously strongly predicted, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to inaugurate Letjen TNI Maruli Simanjuntak as the new Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) to replace Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto today, Wednesday, (29/11).

This information was obtained from trusted sources within the ministry.

“Yes, tomorrow afternoon (the President will inaugurate the Army Chief of Staff). Yes (Maruli will be appointed),” said the source in a statement to journalists on Tuesday, (28/11) evening.

The previous schedule for the inauguration of the KSAD was also confirmed by President Jokowi himself at the end of last week.

Coordinator of the President’s Special Staff, Ari Dwipayana, also confirmed that President Jokowi will inaugurate the KSAD this week.

“Yes, as stated by the President (inauguration of Army Chief of Staff) this week. We are waiting for the President’s decision,” said Adi at the Ministry of State Secretariat Office, Jakarta.

As is known, currently the position of KSAD is still vacant because the previous official, Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto, has been appointed as Panglima TNI.

Previously, the People’s Representative Council (DPR) had also presented the three strongest names of prospective KSAD candidates to replace Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto. Chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Meutya Hafid, said that the three names who have the opportunity to fill the position of KSAD are Letjen TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, Letjen TNI Suharyanto, and Letjen TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa.
