Jakarta – Polres Metro Jakarta Utara Narcotics Unit officers arrested a drug courier with the initials RD on Jalan Kampung Beting Remaja, Koja, North Jakarta, Tuesday, (15/8) last week. The suspect was arrested while the police were running Operation Nila Jaya 2023.
“We were caught in the Nila Jaya operation in 2023. We managed to catch the methamphetamine courier with the initials RD,” Kapolres Metro Jakarta Utara, Kombes Pol Gidion Arif Setyawan told media crew, Monday, (21/8).
Together with the suspect, continued Kombes Pol Gidion, evidence of methamphetamine was also seized in packets of Chinese tea weighing 5.2 kg.
“Packaged in packets of Chinese tea with small chips and digital scales,” said Kapolrestro Gidion.
“From the two shipments, more than 5 kg were collected at the suspect’s (RD) house in Kampung Beting, Koja,” he continued.
He also explained that RD was a recidivist who had been in Nusa Kambangan for seven years with the same case. After only a year of being free, he started acting again around April 2023 until he was finally caught again.
The suspect RD is subject to Article 114 paragraph 2 Subsidiary 112 paragraph 2 of RI Law Number 35 of 2009 with a maximum penalty of death penalty, or life imprisonment and or a minimum of 6 years in prison. Bembo
