Jakarta – Polres Metro Jakarta Barat has prepared maximum security for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 celebrations. A total of 964 joint personnel have been alerted to secure Christmas and New Year (Nataru).
The 964 joint personnel came from the National Police, TNI, and West Jakarta City Government (Jakbar), as well as other social security and order partners. They will be distributed to 185 churches in Jakarta Barat.
“We will deploy these joint personnel to 8 Security Posts and 2 Service Posts in the jurisdiction of the Polres Metro Jakarta Baratcfrom December 22 2023 to January 2 2024,” said Kapolres Metro Jakarta Barat, Kombes Pol M Syahduddi, Sunday, (24/ 12).
Especially at churches, the police will implement three security rings so that the security system runs optimally.
“In ring three, personnel will be placed to guard and regulate traffic flow along the road around the entrance to and from the church. To secure ring 2, we will carry out inspections together with the church’s internal security for members of the public or congregation who will worship using metal detectors and security doors,” explained Kapolres Syahduddi.
Meanwhile, in ring 1, he continued, sterilization and security assessment will be implemented in each church. It is hoped that these efforts can minimize terror attempts against the church.
“Meanwhile, ring 1 security will be implemented by carrying out sterilization and security assessments in each church that carries out Christmas services as a preventive measure to prevent security disturbances including terror threats. This is to ensure that congregational worship activities in the church run safely, smoothly and conducively,” said Kapolres Syahduddi.
Polres Metro Jakarta Barat will also always coordinate and synergize with all related parties for internal church security. Because this will make activities easier and smoother and ensure the safety of Christians who will worship in these churches.
“Apart from optimizing security at each church, we will also provide maximum security at several community activity centers such as tourist areas, shopping centers, bus terminals, train stations and other places that will be used as locations for Christmas and New Year celebrations,” Kapolres Syahduddi reiterated said.
