Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya has succeeded in uncovering an online fraud case with the international network’s part-time mode of work. Three suspects namely DPS (26), DPP (27), and WW (35) were secured in this disclosure.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said this case started with a report on the victim with the initials AM. Based on AM’s confession, he entered the suspect’s Instagram account.
“Then he clicked on the link on Instagram and was connected to a WhatsApp group called ‘tokped’ where the victim was given a part-time job with the promise of benefits,” said Kombes Pol Trunoyudo Head of Public Relations to journalists, Tuesday, (25/7).
After that, the victim is asked to transfer to several accounts ordered by the perpetrator. The perpetrator then promised to return the victim’s money with a commission of Rp400,000.
“However, after several times the victim made transfers it turned out that the victim did not receive the money back and also the promised benefits. As a result of the actions of the suspects, the victim lost around Rp878,000,000,” he said.
Kombes Pol Trunoyudo explained that one of the perpetrators, namely the DPP, acted as one of the owners of the victim’s money-accounting account. The suspect also worked as an online gambling customer service in Cambodia. Bembo
