Jakarta – The Sub-Directorate for Jtanras, Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, ransacked a residential area on Jalan Dwiwarna Raya, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, which was used as a gambling arena. A total of 60 perpetrators – the average age of elderly – were also arrested.
The perpetrators were taken to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters with their hands bound by cable ties, Tuesday (13/6) evening. They were brought before investigators for further examination.
Kasubdit Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Indrawienny Panjiyoga said, of all the perpetrators who were arrested, there were those who played the role of organizers and there were those who became players.
“We managed to secure 60 people suspected of being both organizers and players,” Panjiyoga told reporters at Polda Metro Jaya.
He explained that there were two types of games that were secured, namely pakyu and tasiau. Evidence of gambling tools and money that was used as a bet was also secured. However, the police are still calculating the nominal amount of the money that was confiscated.
“As for evidence of money, for the time being it is still being calculated and its roles are still being examined. (Secured) game tools for gambling, there is money then dice and others,” he explained.
This mid-level officer who graduated from the 2004 Tatag Trawang Tungga Battalion at the Police Academy added that the location that was randomized was a residential alley. It was also stated that the police had repeatedly cracked down on that location, but the act of gambling has reappeared.
“We have taken action there many times. As previously stated, we are committed that on the orders of the Chief of Police, we will continue to fight criminal acts of gambling within the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya,” he emphasized. Bembo
