Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya held a rally to check officers under operational control (BKO) to secure the 2024 Election Voting Places (TPS) for the DKI Jakarta Province and surrounding areas.
The call aims to check the readiness of personnel and equipment carried by personnel while on duty to secure the polling stations for the voting on February 14 2024.
“Personnel checking is the first step in readiness for security on voting and vote counting day at the TPS on February 14 2024,” said Wakapolda Metro Jaya, Brigjen Pol Suyudi Ario Seto while leading a roll call at the Polda Metro Jaya Precision Field, Tuesday, (30/1) Morning.
Wakapolda Suyudi explained, that not all of the personnel who will carry out security have sufficient experience in carrying out election security at this time.
“Because of that, we really check the needs and requirements, both clothing and food logistics, and we determine how security personnel act at the polling station location,” he said.
Furthermore, Wakapolda Suyudi also reminded all senior personnel not to be complacent and continue to carry out their duties according to the division of tasks that have been given.
“So that our presence at each location is visible to the public and can secure the voting and vote counting process until it is completed in a safe and conducive situation,” he said.
He also added that personnel need to anticipate potential security and public order (kamtibmas) disturbances before, during and after the vote counting is carried out.
“Immediately report any developments in the situation to the leadership if there is an increase in escalation in the field and do not take excessive action or ‘excessive power’,” he said.
Wakapolda Suyudi also advised personnel to maintain neutrality by avoiding actions that could discredit bias towards one pair of candidates (paslon) or political parties (parpol).
“Also avoid places that might be part of the winning factor for one of the candidate pairs. Pay attention to where the members are staying overnight or just sitting drinking coffee,” he said.
“Hopefully the voting and counting of votes in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya will always be safe and peaceful,” he added. Bembo
