Polda Metro Arrested Two Scammers Using the Name of Indodax Crypto Company

Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya held a press conference for fraud perpetrators who profiteered from the name of the crypto trading company, Indodax, at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters, Tuesday, (13/6).

Jakarta – Sub-Directorate IV for Cyber ​​Crime Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) Polda Metro Jaya arrested two perpetrators of fraud who profited from the name of the Indodax crypto company.

The two perpetrators committed the crime of fraud and/or manipulation of data via electronics as if they were authentic from PT Indodax’s crypto currency trading company.

“We arrested two suspects at two different TKP (crime scenes), namely in South Sulawesi and East Kalimantan,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Auliansyah Lubis during a press conference, Tuesday, (13/6).

The first suspect, continued Auliansyah, a man with the initials L (52) was arrested on Tuesday (2/5) at 18.15 WITA on Jalan Sekolah DDI, RT/RW. 001/002, Kalosi Village, Dua Pitue District, Sidenreng Rappang, South Sulawesi.

Then the second suspect, a man with the initials B (22) was arrested on Wednesday (17/5) at 01.25 WITA on Jalan Soekarno Hatta Km.2 RT.10 No.30, Gunung Samarinda Village, North Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan.

The two perpetrators, Auliansyah continued, used almost the same mode, namely offering trading investments to victims through social media accounts.

“The suspects created a social media account that was made as if it was the official page of the Indodax investment company under the name PT. Indodax – IDX Crypto Aset Masa Depan,” he said.

The jasmine officer who graduated from the Tunggal Panaluan Battalion Police Academy in 1994 continued, suspect L promised that the victim would immediately receive an 80 percent profit and 20 percent to the company after three hours if he had transferred some money to the suspect.

“As for suspect B, he promised the victim a profit of IDR 4.6 million if the victim made a deposit of Rp1.2 million,” Auliansyah said.

He also said that the value of temporary losses from the victims, namely from suspect L was Rp25 million and from suspect B was Rp600 million.

From this arrest, the police secured evidence of two cell phones, and a BNI account number from suspect L. Meanwhile, from suspect B, evidence was obtained of one cell phone, two accounts of Bank BNI and Bank BTPN.

The two perpetrators were charged with Article 28 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 45 A paragraph (1) and/or Article 35 in conjunction with Article 51 paragraph (1) and/or Article 36 in conjunction with Article 51 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).

Both are threatened with imprisonment for a maximum of 12 years and a maximum fine of Rp12 billion. Bembo
