Jakarta – PanglimaTNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto confirmed that the TNI would use hard power in handling cases in Papua. This will be done if the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) starts to attack.
“Hard power is the last resort. As they are now doing, they have attacked us. Yes, we will use hard power to retaliate,” said Panglima Agus Subiyanto to journalists, last Friday, (1/12).
Panglima Agus said, hard power measures were the last option due to the circumstances. The reason, he continued, is that so far the TNI has still used a soft power approach.
“I’ve already said that in handling Papua we have to use smart power, yes, using soft power. Hard power is the last resort,” he explained again.
On this occasion, Panglima Agus also expressed his condolences for the deaths of two TNI soldiers from Paro District, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
The two soldiers were from the Yonis Mechanized Raider 411/Pandawa Task Force of the TNI-AD Strategic Reserve Command.
