Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the main event commemorating National Teachers’ Day 2023 at the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday, (25/11) afternoon.
Also seen accompanying the President were Panglima TNI Jenderal TNI Agus Subiyanto, Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim and Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.
This event opened with the song Indonesia Raya which was played solemnly throughout the room. After that, the event continued with a musical drama involving students from elementary, middle and high school levels.
In this event, President Jokowi also gave symbolic prizes to five innovative and dedicated teachers.
Previously, President Jokowi also attended the peak of the commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia Teachers Association (PGRI) in North Jakarta. In his speech, Jokowi said that teaching is not an easy profession. In 2022 international research, it was found that the stress level of the teaching profession was higher than other jobs.
