Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya deployed 4,041 joint personnel for Operation Lilin Jaya 2023 to secure Christmas and New Year (Nataru). Operation Lilin 2023 will start simultaneously in all Polda throughout Indonesia starting December 22 2023.
“We have prepared 4,041 personnel consisting of government officials, TNI and Polri,” said Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto to journalists at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, (18/12).
Kapolda Karyoto explained that his party had held a coordination meeting with stakeholders regarding security for Christmas and New Year this year. Polda Metro has also prepared efforts to overcome potential vulnerabilities that arise during the Christmas holiday.
“By means of communication, coordination and collaboration and the formation of service and security elements. And one of the extraordinary assets we have is our solidity between government officials, TNI, Polri and the community,” said Kapolda Karyoto.
Furthermore, Kapolda Karyoto also said, to anticipate traffic jams during the Nataru homecoming, Polda Metro Jaya has also prepared various traffic engineering efforts for solutions.
“Traffic security is very situational. For example, during H-2, H-1 there is extraordinary congestion, maybe we can contraflow on the toll road. This is very situational depending on the situation. If it’s smooth, that’s fine,” said Kapolda Karyoto.
“The biggest problem is traffic jams. If it starts to get busy, there will be a bottleneck. We will try to make it run smoothly. I don’t think the Christmas holiday will be as big as the Eid holiday,” he added.
Operation Lilin Jaya 2023 will be held for 12 days, from 22 December 2023 to 2 January 2024. For the peak of the Nataru homecoming flow, it is estimated that there will be two waves. The first wave will be on 22-23 December 2023 and the second wave will be on 29-30 December. Then the return flow is predicted to occur on December 26-27 and January 1-2 2024. Bembo
