KPK Offended by Polda Metro to Investigate Allegations of Blackmail by KPK Leaders in Kementan

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata.

Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata admitted that he was offended by allegations of alleged extortion that were said to have been carried out by the head of an anti-corruption agency in the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) corruption case.

Because he is also one of the leaders of the anti-corruption agency.

“I’m offended too. I’m part of the leadership, you know. What does that mean? That investigation was also directed at me. Because I’m part of the leadership, right,” said Alex at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Jakarta, Friday, (13/10) .

Even so, Alex claimed that there was no friction between the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) and Polda Metro Jaya which was investigating allegations of extortion against Syahrul.

“There is no friction, because they are two different things and have nothing to do with each other,” said Alex.

“I emphasize again, there are two different things. We are handling allegations of criminal acts of corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture with three suspects. The Regional Police is handling allegations of extortion committed by the leadership,” he continued.

He also ensured that the KPK investigation process into SYL was without pressure and was carried out professionally.

“And we ensure that the examination we carry out in the examination room by investigators is fair, open, and I am sure very professional. There are no attempts at coercion or pressure,” he stressed.

As is known, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently investigating the alleged corruption case of the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya is currently investigating a case of alleged extortion by KPK leaders against SYL.

In this corruption case, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named three suspects, namely the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) Muhammad Hatta, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono.

The three of them are now being detained at the KPK Detention Center for the next 20 days. On the other hand, the extortion case against SYL has also moved to the investigation stage. A number of witnesses have also been questioned, including SYL and his aide, Kevin.

However, Polda Metro Jaya has not named a suspect in the extortion case. Bembo
