Merauke – Kotis Sota Post personnel carried out community service activities to clean the Indonesian Monument in Sota Village, Sota District, Merauke, Papua, Monday, (11/12). This activity was carried out in mutual cooperation with the young people of Sota Village.
The Indonesian Monument is a marker monument for the region on the border between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The condition of the monument before it was cleaned looked dull and poorly maintained because it was overgrown with grass and rubbish.
Serda Akhsan along with several personnel from the Pos Kotis Task Force Yonif 726/Tml and the youth looked very enthusiastic about cleaning the monument which is also a symbol of the 0 km point of RI-PNG.
“What we are doing today is cleaning the Indonesian Monument as one of the proud icons in Sota Village that we have known for so long. Local residents and migrants passing by the Trans Merauke – Bovendigoel Road junction will definitely see it,” said one Sota resident.
From this community service activity, it is also very clear how much love and pride the Sota young people feel for Tugu Indonesia. They already have a strong awareness that the icon of the RI-Papua New Guinea border region must continue to be maintained continuously. Bembo
