Jakarta – Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that Polri personnel will be directly involved in securing 39,495 churches throughout Indonesia starting today, Sunday, (24/12). Security will be carried out starting from the Christmas Eve Mass and worship activities leading up to Christmas 2023.
“The Polri have carried out a special operation which perhaps all of you already know about. Operation Nataru Lilin 2023. And today we have secured approximately 39,495 churches. Of course, these are all over Indonesia,” said Kapolri Listyo Sigit at the Cathedral Church, Jakarta Pusat, Sunday, (24/12).
He also said that currently there were 55,095 Christmas worship activities reported to his party. And all of this also falls under the protection of the Polri.
“Meanwhile there are approximately 55,095 Christmas worship activities that have been reported. And this is of course also a part that we must protect,” he said.
Furthermore, Kapolri Listyo Sigit also asked his staff to increase security at all churches during the 2023 Christmas series. This also includes security monitoring the homecoming flow.
“I order all members to continue to be prepared, serving both the Christmas Worship series as well as the series of homecoming activities and tourist attractions,” he emphasized.
Apart from security matters, on this occasion Kapolri Listyo Sigit also said that his party was conducting an in-depth investigation into 18 people who had been arrested by Densus 88.
“Including we have arrested 18 people who we are currently conducting in-depth investigations. They were arrested by friends of Densus 88,” he said.
At the end of his speech, Kapolri Listyo Sigit also expressed his thanks to the ranks of the TNI and religious organizations who joined in helping with security activities for Christmas 2023. Bembo
