Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya together with the Indonesian Army (AD) Puspom have completely dismantled the case of illegal firearms (senpi) circulation which falsified the identity cards of members of the Indonesian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan). “Until now there is no involvement of members of the TNI,” said Kapolda Metro Jaya, Inspector General Pol Karyoto in a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday, (21/8).
He continued, if later it was found that there was involvement of members of the TNI, Puspomad would follow up on this matter. However, Kapolda Karyoto once again emphasized that there was no involvement of TNI personnel in this case.
“Our colleagues who were present at this time stated that no one was involved,” he explained.
According to Kapolda Karyoto, the distribution of illegal firearms is very dangerous, especially if these weapons fall into the hands of the public or even into the hands of criminals.
“For example, if he gets a little emotional then points him, he is negligent, shooting will definitely cause casualties,” he said.
Therefore, he appealed to the public to provide information to the police if any civilians found holding firearms.
“On this occasion, we appeal to the public if they find out that there are people acting like street cowboys, the community will help a lot to take videos capturing the face is very important because now is the digital era,” said Kapolda Karyoto.
