Then from this number, crime clearance or cases that were successfully resolved were 37,453 cases.

“Automatically the number and total cases increase, crime clearance also increases,” he said.

Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto, delivered an explanation of the performance of the ranks throughout 2023 in a year-end release held at the Metro Jaya Meeting Hall (BPMJ), Thursday, (28/12).

Specifically for handling cases at the Ditreskrimum, Kapolda Karyoto continued, the cases handled throughout 2023 were mostly fraud and embezzlement cases, dominated by online fraud cases. He also said that cases like this are actually difficult to prevent.

“But as information, what is currently rampant is online fraud. And this warning is already everywhere. However, usually because the targets sought are our people who don’t understand online, so they are easily deceived,” said Kapolda Karyoto.

Apart from that, throughout 2023 there will also be handling of several prominent cases that have attracted the attention of many people. For example, the TIP case of buying and selling kidney organs, illegal firearms trafficking, the discovery of bodies in Cinere, and the discovery of bodies in Koja.

“There are also other prominent cases such as the disclosure of pornographic film production, Coldplay concert ticket sales fraud, illegal migrant worker brokers, and medical malpractice cases, some of which were handled by the Criminal Investigation Department,” he said.

Turning now to the performance at the Narcotics Directorate. In his presentation, Kapolda Karyoto said, that throughout 2023 there were 5,282 drug cases handled, an increase of 47 percent compared to 2022. Of this number, crime clearance reached 4,235 cases.

“All this data can be interpreted easily. If total crime increases, it means that arrests made by members of the Narcotics Directorate also increase. This means that all police officers in charge of narcotics within the ranks of Polda Metro Jaya are actively carrying out arrests. But it’s also really worrying from a general perspective. Why? Because that means the number of users around us is also quite significant,” he said.

“Even so, i guarantee that Polda Metro Jaya will continue to prioritize pre-emptive and preventive patterns in its actions. The law enforcement relations that we carry out must always be objective and modern, both in terms of professionalism, transparency and accountability,” continued Kapolda Karyoto while emphasizing.
