Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Inspector General Karyoto stated that the investigation into the alleged extortion case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership against the former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) would soon be carried out. He promised that this activity would be carried out as soon as possible.
“Later from our team, maybe soon (holding a case to determine the suspect),” said Kapolda Karyoto to journalists at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, (13/11).
Even so, Kapolda Karyoto did not want to explain in detail when the investigator carried out the case. He just asked all parties to wait for the process carried out by Polda Metro Jaya.
“You’ll see,” he said.
Previously, the case was reported to Polda Metro Jaya on August 12 2023. Public complaints regarding alleged extortion by KPK leaders in handling cases at the Ministry of Agriculture in 2021.
The police then carried out a series of investigations by clarifying and collecting evidence in the case. After a case was held, the case moved to the investigation stage last Friday, (6/10).
Dozens of witnesses have been questioned since the case moved to the investigation stage, including KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to SYL. Apart from that, there were Kapolrestabes Semarang Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, Firli Bahuri’s aide, Kevin Egananta, Director of the KPK Public Dumas Tomi Murtomo, and expert witnesses from former KPK leaders Saut Situmorang and Mochammad Jasin.
The police have also conducted searches at Firli’s private house located in Bekasi and Firli’s rest house at Kertanegara 46, South Jakarta. Several documents were also confiscated by investigators in this case.
Dirreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak said that three suspected cases were found, including extortion, receiving gratuities or receiving gifts related to handling cases at the Ministry of Agriculture.
“So, colleagues, we will carry out a case to determine the suspect which we have scheduled,” said Kombes Pol Ade some time ago. Bembo
