Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto attended the Community Service activity for cleaning up the Anak Kali Krukut River and surrounding areas at the Tanah Abang Market Shopping Center Complex, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, (13/12).

They were seen carrying cleaning equipment such as brooms, sacks, dustpans and trash filters.

KSAD Jenderal TNI Maruli said that to deal with rain, you have to prepare water flow, clean traditional markets and plant trees to prevent flooding.

“Facing this rain, we have to prepare water flows so that flooding does not occur and we also do many things to clean traditional markets throughout Indonesia. “Including us starting to plant trees again,” said JenderalTNI Maruli at the location.

He said that the El Nino disaster that occurred some time ago had an impact on natural damage. So, this activity is in anticipation of the rainy season which is predicted to occur next February. Apart from cleaning up, tree planting was also carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia.

“Because of yesterday’s El Nino event, many forests burned, many trees died. “So water flow cleaning activities must be carried out to face the rainy season so that it does not affect the water flow, which is good for our cleanliness,” explained Jenderal TNI Maruli.

He also said that at least 600 personnel were deployed in today’s activities. Personnel come from elements of the TNI, Polri, Satpol PP, DKI Provincial Government, Gojek, communities, foundations and the private sector.

“Not just today because all of Indonesia is at the same time,” he said.

Furthermore, Jenderal TNI Maruli also advised his staff to convey a message to the public to always maintain cleanliness.

“The message is reminding the public to take care. If this is cleaning, then be our cleaner. We are working while campaigning for clean living, don’t disturb the flow of water to avoid disasters,” he stressed. Bembo
