Depok – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Inspector General Karyoto, immediately intervened to clarify the unbalanced opinion in handling the case of the wife of a domestic violence victim, instead he was made a suspect. Kapolda Karyoto said, after he directly checked the handling of the case at the Depok Metro Police, both the wife and husband in this case actually deserved detention.
“Opinion is not balanced in the community on this case due to the handling that was not open. In fact, both of them deserve detention. The husband deserves detention, the wife also deserves detention,” explained Kapolda Karyoto to reporters at the Depok Metro Police Headquarters, Thursday, (25/5).
He said, this case is actually a matter of mutual reporting. However, because the husband who was reported by the wife was still in the process of being treated, his detention was suspended. Likewise, the wife who was also reported by the husband was also suspended.
“That’s why I said, yesterday, the police chief tried to look again at the handling of the case so that the mother was suspended first. It seems that it is indeed unequal. But the reason is also true. It is still proper and reasonable for what is being processed by investigators in the investigation process. It’s just that there are two parties who reported to each other, in the end this was postponed first,” explained the two star general who had dropped out of the 1990 Dhira Brata Police Academy Battalion.
To note in this case, a woman with the initials PB reported her husband because of a domestic violence case to the Depok Police. However, the husband also returned to report his wife so that both are now under the status of suspects.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Depok Metro Police, AKBP Yogen Heroes Baruno, said that PB had done the first report. In his report, PB admitted that he experienced violence so that his eyes were sprinkled with chili powder by the husband.
“Yes, the initial incident was on February 26, yes, there was an argument between the husband and wife. Then the husband was offended by the wife’s words and spilled chili powder into his wife’s eyes and a struggle ensued,” Yogen said at the Depok Police, Wednesday, (24/5) yesterday.
The dispute eventually led to domestic violence. The wife who was sprinkled with chili powder fought back by squeezing her husband’s genitals.
“The wife, who continues to be driven by reflexes, fights back by squeezing her husband’s genitals hard. To release the squeeze, the husband is forced to hit his wife.
