Jakarta – Head of Bakamla RI, Laksdya TNI Dr. Irvansyah and his staff received an honorary visit from US Naval Attache Indonesia Commander, Patrick Panjeti and Marine Attache Major Mickey Ding, at the Ary Hasibuan Hall, Indonesian Bakamla Headquarters, Thursday, (11/1).

This visit was aimed at introducing representatives of the United States (US) to the newly appointed Head of Bakamla RI, as well as discussing possible collaborations that could be carried out between Bakamla RI and the US Government. The cooperation offered by the US Government is the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Academy training offer which will be discussed further.

Not only that. Both parties also touched on activities that would be carried out in the near future. In February, the US Government plans to invite the Indonesian Bakamla to pay a visit, in the context of a bilateral meeting with agencies related to the Maritime Law Enforcement Agency. On that occasion, the Head of Bakamla RI will visit the USCG Headquarters and Academy.

Furthermore, the Head of Bakamla RI will also carry out a Handover of the Maritime Training Center (MTC) with the American Government which will be held in Batam on Monday (29/1). This refers to the Letter on Grant (LoG) document agreement regarding MTC and the Indonesia Maritime Information Center (IMIC).

At the end of the meeting, U.S. Naval Attache Indonesia expressed its hope that Bakamla RI can develop and grow into an increasingly strong maritime security and safety agency, by combining all maritime components in Indonesia. Bembo
