Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Pol Karyoto gathered all the ranks of detective investigators in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya, Thursday (11/5) afternoon. In front of all levels of investigators, the Kapolda Metro reminded them not to use a restorative justice approach for cases of corruption and drugs.
Kapolda Karyoto explained that restorative justice is only an option for the community to resolve problems that have been reported to the police.
“If it’s still a personal matter and those who don’t transport matters regarding corruption, narcotics and so on, they can have a kind of deliberation by themselves,” he told the media crew.
According to him, law enforcement is the last resort to handle cases. If the settlement is carried out through a restorative justice approach, then there must be some kind of statement from both parties.
Furthermore, Kapolda Karyoto explained that he had deliberately gathered investigators to carry out the mandate of the President and the Kapolri regarding fair law enforcement. The mandate emphasizes that law enforcement must be professional and objective, and most importantly legal certainty.
“If a case really has to stop, we have to have the courage to stop and immediately issue SP3. Don’t delay and drag it out. On the other hand, if it has to continue, we must also continue. In accordance with the applicable laws,” said Kapolda Karyoto. Bembo
