Jakarta – The Narcotics Research Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) of Polda Metro Jaya discovered a new method of smuggling narcotics into Indonesia. Now the perpetrators put liquid methamphetamine into shoe polish. A total of 4 kg of liquid methamphetamine was confiscated by the police.
“There is a new mode of delivery. The last thing we revealed together with Customs and Excise was that it was sent via liquid polish which contained liquid methamphetamine,” said Director of Narcotics at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Hengki to journalists, Wednesday, (11/10).
Kombes Pol Hengki said, that the illicit goods entered Indonesia as if they were sending shoe polish packages. However, when checked, there was liquid crystal methamphetamine inside.
“But now it is packaged as if a polish package was being sent. Well, it comes in packaging that might make it difficult to detect at the airport or at the port. Like this, there is crystal methamphetamine but outside it is shoe polish. So the soap is stored in black shoe polish ,” he explained.
Kombes Pol Hengki has not detailed how much crystal methamphetamine was confiscated and the suspects who were arrested. However, it is known that the methamphetamine was sent from Nigeria.
“There are foreigners involved in the suspects, there are also people from our country. They are from Nigeria. They are working with couriers in our country,” he said.
Kombes Pol Hengki said, that until now his party was still investigating the case. Polda Metro will anticipate and ask expedition services to carry out strict supervision regarding packages sent to prevent similar methods from occurring.
“But we invite them to work together to detect this drug trafficking, those who send these packages carry out manual checks, open the items to be sent,” he said.
“We remain committed to eradicating drugs, never afraid and we act decisively. So that’s the current method, sending via packages. We anticipate packages, via any expedition,” he continued emphasizing. Bembo
