Jakarta – The Directorate of Community Development (Binmas) Polda Metro provides knowledge
to 325 Bhayangkara for Community Security and Order (Bhabinkamtibmas) personnel regarding the prevention of violence-based radicalism crimes that lead to terrorism.
In his remarks, the Director of Binmas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Badya Wijaya hopes that with this debriefing, Bhabinkamtibmas can synergize with Correctional Center Community Advisors (PK Bapas) to prevent terrorism.
“The Bhabinkamtibmas are also expected to support the task force (Satgas) on the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO) at the National Police Headquarters by carrying out preventive tips in their respective areas,” said Kombes Pol Badya, Thursday, (27/7).
He also said that the intended preventive activities did not only focus on violence related to extremism, but also violence committed by people in their respective areas, such as brawls that resulted in victims.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Bekasi Class II Bapas, Mali Junali also explained the role and functions of the bapas in the justice system.
“Bapas can carry out the function of checking and balancing in the criminal justice process, determining and integrating correctional service programs and coordinating community guidance programs,” he said.
Then, he continued, carry out preventive and repressive supervision and build synergy between PK Bapas officers in the field and Bhabinkamtibmas.
Meanwhile, a representative from the Wahid Foundation, Visna Vulovik explained the role of violent extremism in the perspective of conflict. In this case, it is the main component in the analysis of terrorist conflicts such as the characteristics of radicalism, extremism and terrorism.
