Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Pol Karyoto was present at the Friday Chat activity at the Sunter Jaya Village Office, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta, Friday, (25/8) evening.
Kapolda Karyoto was deliberately present to make this forum a place to get closer between the police and the community.
“As Kapolda Metro Jaya, I always want to be close to the community. If we are close to the community, we can absorb input and information from the community in order to find solutions to overcome social problems,” said Kapolda Karyoto in his remarks.
On this occasion, Kapolda Karyoto also called on the public to care about environmental security by paying attention to synergies with other parties such as the TNI, Polri, and also local government officials.
“Security issues are actually not our sole responsibility, this is the responsibility of all of us,” he said.
Furthermore, Kapolda Karyoto also regretted the occurrence of brawls in several areas of Jakarta, especially in North Jakarta.
“We have seen the video shown by the Polres Metro Jakarta Utara. But if we look at the Indonesian CNN, my heart is sad. In the past, maybe someone died in an accident in our excited environment. Now people die because of fights, why are they considered normal, try to imagine,” said this two-star General who owns the Libra zodiac.
He admitted that he was sad because he often received information about brawls that resulted in the death of the victim (MD). Even though the TNI and Polri have tried their best to anticipate it.
“As the Kapolda, if I receive daily reports, there are fights, some are MD or have died. We feel that the efforts we have made have been maximized,” explained the high-ranking officer from the 1990 Dhira Brata Battalion, Police Academy, in a satirical tone.
Therefore, he continued, he firmly asked the public to pay more attention to the association and development of their sons when they were outside the home.
“I want to ask parents, there are teenagers who gather at 01.00 WIB, what will happen? Remember that the fight happened because two or three people gathered at an inappropriate hour. Let’s pay attention to our children,” he warned.
For this reason, he also really hopes that the public can convey their problems to the authorities. This is to prevent the fall of casualties due to brawls.
“Immediately report any potential brawls. Get us involved. There is always a way out for every problem that occurs in society, especially the problem of brawls,” he said again ending his remarks.
