Pekalongan – Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo accompanied by Panglima TNI Laksamana TNI Yudo Margono inaugurated the Monument to Jenderal Polisi Hoegeng Iman Santoso in Pekalongan, Central Java, last Saturday, (11/11).
“Alhamdulillah, we have just carried out a series of activities. One of them is the inauguration of the Jenderal Hoegeng Iman Santoso Monument,” said Kapolri Listyo Sigit to journalists after inaugurating the monument.
The Kapolri also said that the monument was erected to inspire the example of Jenderal Polisi Hoegeng Iman Santoso as a Bhayangkara man who was honest, simple and had integrity.
“This activity is of course intended to mean that the Polri has an idol and role model as a former Kapolri who I think is already known to the public, also known within the Polri and of course he is also an extraordinary figure. We have listened to the testimonials,” said the Kapolri.
“He was an honest person, who was brave and also made the decision to become a civil servant and later in his life he taught many values that doing something as an example was not easy, but it was done,” he added.
Therefore, the Kapolri emphasized that all forms of example left by General Hoegeng must continue to be emulated by the nation’s next generation as well as all current and future police personnel.
“Of course, we, the young, see him as a role model, an example from whom we must inherit his example, honesty, courage. And other values which of course are very important for the current and future generations of police,” explained the Kapolri.
Panglima TNI Laksamana TNI Yudho Margono on the same occasion also expressed his appreciation for the construction of the Jenderal Polisi Hoegeng Monument in Pekalongan.
“I really appreciate the construction of this statue in Pekalongan. “Of course, we as the next generation, and also the generations to come, can see directly the figure of Mr. Hoegeng,” said the Panglima TNI.
Furthermore, the Panglima TNI also stated that Jenderal Polisi Hoegeng, who was a simple and down-to-earth figure who was close to his subordinates, was a role model for the next generation.
“I’m sure everyone also knows the history of Pak Hoegeng’s journey, who led with simplicity and modesty and was close to his subordinates. “Of course he is a role model for us, and a benchmark for future leaders to emulate him. I am sure he will be a role model for all of us,” said Panglima Yudho.
Virtual Dialogue with Eyang Meri
At this special moment, Kapolri Listyo Sigit, who was accompanied by Panglima TNI Yudho Margono, also had a virtual dialogue with Meriyati Roeslani or Meri Hoegeng, wife of former Kapolri Jenderal Polisi Hoegeng Iman Santoso.
In her dialogue, Eyang Meri, as she is known, expressed her appreciation and thanks to the Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit and the staff who inaugurated the Jenderal Hoegeng Monument. Eyang Meri also said that Pekalongan is an area that has a sweet historical history.
“Mr. Listyo, I thank you very much for what you have done. It’s really great because Pekalongan brings a sweet message to me,” said Eyang Meri.

Responding to this message, Kapolri Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit emphasized that he would try his best to continue to emulate Jenderal Hoegeng’s role model.
“Thank you, Eyang Meri. We all heard what Eyang Meri just ordered and conveyed. Of course we realize that it is not easy to become Hoegeng Iman Santoso. However, we are sure that the younger generation will try their best to emulate Jenderal Hoegeng Iman Santoso. After the inauguration, the Kapolri together with the Panglima TNI took a group photo in front of the monument with officials at the level of Provisi Jawa Tengah, Polda Jawa Tengah, Kodam IV/Diponegoro and Pekalongan City and staff.
