Jakarta – The police will deploy 2,730 joint personnel to secure the continued mass demonstration. The Association of Indonesian Village Governments (APDESI) is holding another demonstration in front of the DPR building today, Tuesday, (6/2).
“In order to secure the joint village action in front of the DPR building, we involved a total of 2,730 joint personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat,TNI, DKI Regional Government and related agencies,” said Kapolres Metro Jakarta Pusat, Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro in a statement officially today.
He explained, that the joint apparatus would later be deployed at a number of points around the DPR. The police have also prepared anticipatory steps to prevent crowds from entering the toll road as in previous demonstrations.
“The results of the evaluation of previous demonstrations showed that the masses burned tires, closed the toll road and damaged the fence of the DPR building. For today’s demonstration, we have anticipated this by preparing a number of personnel to provide security and prevent the demonstrators from entering the toll road. ,” explained Kapolres Susatyo.
He also said, that the scheme for implementing closures or diversions of traffic around the DPR was still situational. Traffic flow engineering will be implemented considering the situation on the ground.
“We’ll see the size of the crowd later. If there are enough crowds in front of the DPR and the escalation increases, then we will divert the traffic flowing towards the front of the DPR Building, blocking it on Pulau Dua. Vehicles from the toll road will go to the toll exit. We closed in front of the DPR and headed straight towards Slipi,” he explained again.
Furthermore, the Kapolres Susatyo Police also asked the personnel carrying out security to always act persuasively, not be provoked, prioritize negotiation and humane service.
“We urge the coordinators and orators to give their speeches politely and not provoke the masses. Carry out demonstrations peacefully, not force your will, not be anarchic and not damage public facilities. Respect and respect other road users who will pass in front of the DPR ,” he said.
“With the security preparations and readiness that we have carried out, we also urge all parties to always maintain security and order, so that future demonstration activities can proceed safely and orderly,” he stressed.
As is known, the APDESI crowd held a demonstration on January 31 2024. They demanded that the DPR revise Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. Bembo
