Lemtaki Hopes that the Polda Metro will Immediately Examine Firli Because Brought DJKA Documents to the Pre-trial Hearing

Chairman of the Indonesian Budget Transparency and Anti-Corruption Institute (Lemtaki) Edy Susilo.

Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Budget Transparency and Anti-Corruption Institute (Lemtaki) Edy Susilo reported Firli Bahuri to Polda Metro Jaya regarding the submission of documentary evidence regarding the alleged bribery case of a former official of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation in the pre-trial hearing of the extortion case against Syahrul Yasin Limpo ( SYL). Edy hopes that Polda Metro Jaya will immediately summon Firli and his lawyer, Ian Iskandar, to be questioned in the case report.

“Polda Metro Jaya should immediately examine Firli Bahuri and his lawyer, Ian Iskandar, because they brought secret KPK documents to the pre-trial hearing in the extortion case of the former SYL agriculture minister. Firli Bahuri’s capacity in this case is personal and not a KPK institution,” said Edy Susilo to reporters, Wednesday, (3/1).

He said, he should have been questioned as a reporter in the case on Friday, (29/12). However, he was only able to come to Polda Metro today.

He explained that the inspection was carried out from 12.00 to 17.00 WIB. He admitted that investigators were asked many questions regarding the DJKA documents that Firli brought to the pre-trial hearing.

“Regarding the DJKA case documents which were used as evidence at the pre-trial hearing,” he said.

As previously reported, Firli was again reported to Polda Metro Jaya. The reporter is Edy Susilo. The report has been registered with number LP/B/7588/XII/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated December 18, 2023.

Reported in this case is Firli Bahuri and his attorney, Ian Iskandar. Both were reported under Article 54 of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Openness of Public Information in conjunction with Article 322 of the Criminal Code.

“We have made an LP to Polda Metro Jaya. Reported party Firli and his lawyer brought KPK documents,” said Edy Susilo at that time.

Edy believes that the status of Firli Bahuri, who is currently the inactive chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, should not arbitrarily bring investigation documents at the anti-corruption agency to court.

Edy believes that it is feared that Firli’s steps could be an opportunity for misuse of these documents. Apart from that, Edy also assessed that Firli’s steps in bringing documents on the alleged bribery of former officials from the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to the SYL pretrial hearing were inappropriate.

“It was brought to the judge to scare the judge or Polda Metro, that’s not possible, it’s not appropriate. Even though Mr. Firli went there in an extortion case. He refused or carried out a pre-trial regarding refusing suspect status in connection with an extortion case. What does this have to do with the documents? Corruption related to DJKA, it is clear that there are already suspects who have been detained,” said Edy.

Therefore, Edy asked Polda Metro Jaya to immediately process the existing report. He also asked the police to examine Firli Bahuri and his attorney regarding the reported case.

Regarding this report, the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto, when confirmed, Thursday, (21/12) stated that he would first examine the report.

“We’ll see later, we’ll examine (the report),” said Kapolda Karyoto when asked for his response to the report in the Monas area, Jakarta Pusat, at that time.

He also explained that investigators would later collect material and information related to the report in question. This, continued Kapolda Karyoto, also included the process of clarification and completion of evidence from the reporting party.

“What was leaked, what kind of documents, that’s it. Later, what kind of documents will the reporter bring? Are they the same as those in court. We will examine them first,” said Kapolda Karyoto. Bembo
