Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto finally opened his voice to the public to answer accusations by the inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri regarding the issue of his meeting with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) regarding an extortion case.
Kapolda Karyoto stated emphatically that he had never met SYL at all.
“I will answer now yes. I have never met Yasin Limpo. Mr. Dirkrimsus is a witness. I have never met Yasin Limpo,” said Kapolda Karyoto during the end of year release for Polda Metro Jaya at the Metro Jaya Meeting Hall (BPMJ), Thursday, (28 /12).
He also said, that apart from being accused of having met SYL, he was also accused of leaking information. In fact, he continued, there were many more accusations leveled at him.
“Now I am being widely accused, saying that I leaked information. Yes, feel free to be accused. If there are accusations, what did I do wrong, how?” explained Kapolda Karyoto.
“I just kept quiet all this time and didn’t want to respond. Let the legal process prove everything. That’s what I thought,” he continued again with a relaxed expression.
As is known, Firli Bahuri once said that SYL made a report of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership to Polda Metro Jaya because he was afraid of being made a suspect by the KPK. The report, said Firli, was SYL’s attempt to prevent him from being named a suspect.
He made this statement in Firli’s pretrial petition against the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto. This statement was read by Ian Iskandar, as Firli’s attorney at the initial trial at the South Jakarta District Court (PN), last Monday, (11/12).
“It is reasonable to suspect that due to witness Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s fear that he would soon be named a suspect by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission, witness Syahrul Yasin Limpo took a number of actions to weaken and hinder the process of determining him as a suspect,” explained Ian at that time in the pre-trial hearing.
“Among them, it is reasonable to suspect that they have made and/or ordered someone to make a Public Complaint (Dumas) to Polda Metro Jaya,” he continued.
He said again, that SYL made the complaint after receiving instructions from the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto. He said this was based on information obtained by Firli from various sources.
“That it is reasonable to suspect, based on information obtained by the applicant from various sources, that Witness Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s efforts in making and/or ordering someone to make a Public Complaint (Dumas), after receiving input and instructions from Irjen Pol Karyoto,” explained Ian.
On October 9 2023, a model A police report was made, signed by the Dirreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya. On the same day, he added, the respondent issued an investigation warrant.
“That on the same date that the Police Report was made, namely on October 9 2023, the respondent issued an Investigation Order Number: SP.Sidik/6715/X/RES.3.3./2023/Ditreskrimsus dated October 9 2023,” he explained.
