Jakarta – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Inspector General Pol Karyoto with all his open soul and chivalry apologized to the people of Jakarta for the labor demonstration late at night in the Horse Statue area, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Thursday, (10/8).
As a result of the demonstration demanding the repeal of the Omnibus Law for 12 hours from 12.00 to 24.00 WIB, Polda Metro was forced to close roads in the area until early morning.
“We apologize to the people of Jakarta, since 12 o’clock it was blocked and we couldn’t get through because there were quite a number of protesters,” said Regional Police Chief Karyoto while observing the workers’ demonstration in the Horse Statue area, Thursday, (10/8) evening.
Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. TNI Mohamad also accompanied Kapolda Karyoto when conveying his apology during last night’s inspection.
The Kapolda Karyoto said, that his party chose not to disperse the demonstration because they did not want to prioritize repressive measures.
“In the evening there are still mothers. If we are repressive, repressive at first is soft. The time has passed for the prohibition limit, with patience we convey it through loudspeakers,” he explained.
On the other hand, Kapolda Karyoto also expressed his regret that there was provocation via social media. The act of provocation was carried out by reposting pictures and descriptions of the labor demonstration, but not yesterday’s labor demonstration.

none of them (the masses of workers) were secured. There are indeed many provocations on social media, old pictures and they don’t happen in Jakarta. This news is like fishing. But thank God we weren’t provoked,” said the two-star General who is shaded by the Libra zodiac.
Furthermore, he firmly expressed his hope that the masses of workers could fight for their demands in a more elegant way.
“It’s better to take an elegant method with a judicial review. Please channel it through that. Rather than demonstrations from morning to night listening only to the news,” he commented criticizing. Bembo
