Jakarta – Kapolri Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo is scheduled to visit the site of a M 5.6 earthquake in Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday (22/11) this afternoon. There the Kapolri will interact closely with the victims as well as distribute 3,000 food packages.
The Head of the Public Relations Division of Polri, Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo, said that apart from the 3,000 food packages, other necessities such as blankets for refugees and toddlers will also be handed over.
“Today Mr. Kapolri and Mrs. General Chairperson Bhayangkari will directly observe the distribution of basic necessities and see how the victims are being treated and see the handling of the trauma healing team,” said Dedi when going to the disaster site via helicopter, Tuesday morning, at Bhayangkara Field, Polri Headquarters.
Apart from that, he continued, the Kapolri would also directly monitor the evacuation process and the handling of the victims of the Cianjur earthquake. This will be used as evaluation material to determine the priority needs of what is really needed.
“We will also evaluate whether there will be additional personnel. For now, we have mobilized 350 members and distributed other needs,” said Dedi.
He added that monitoring of the earthquake location points from the air was also carried out by the Polairud Baharkam Polri to find out which areas needed assistance. The reason is, there are several locations that are isolated due to landslides.
“We are currently mapping isolated locations and informing our friends on the ground, from the TNI-Polri, Basarnas and the local government, the points that have collapsed and are difficult to access. Later, friends will enter the village to provide assistance,” explained Dedi.
The Polri, continued Dedi, are very concerned about the M 5.6 earthquake that rocked Cianjur Regency, Monday (21/11) yesterday.
