Jakarta – Kapolres Metro Jakarta Barat, Kombes Pol M Syahduddi stated that the investigators involved in the arrest of singer Saiful Jamil were questioned by the Professional and Security Section (Propam) of the Polres Metro Jakarta Barat. This action was taken because it was suspected that there had been a violation of handling procedures when officers chased and arrested the perpetrator.
Even so, Kapolres Syahduddi did not want to reveal the violations in question.
“When there are indications of violations of procedures in their actions, we will not hesitate to give punishment to any member who violates them,” said Kapolres Syahduddi in a written statement, last Tuesday, (9/1).
He ensured that the police personnel involved in the arrest were examined objectively. They were also temporarily relieved of their duties as investigators during the investigation.
“We guarantee that Propam’s examination of the members involved in the arrest will be carried out objectively and can provide a sense of justice for all parties,” he stressed.
Saiful Jamil was arrested along with his assistant, Steven on Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, Friday, (5/1). Steven is known to have bought methamphetamine from a drug dealer with the initials R (18).
“Brother R has been detained at his residence in the Kedaung Kali Angke area and he got these items, this is what we are hunting for and investigating,” said Kapolres Syahduddi at that time.
R was arrested along with evidence in the form of a package of crystal methamphetamine weighing 0.21 grams. According to R’s confession, Steven bought crystal methamphetamine for Rp1 million.
For their actions, Steven and R were charged with Article 114 Paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 112 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics or attempts or evil conspiracy to commit criminal acts on narcotics and narcotics precursors , as intended in the formulation of Article 114 Paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 112 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
