Jakarta – The failure of the inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri to comply with a summons for investigation as a suspect in the alleged extortion of former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), is considered inappropriate and unreasonable. This was stated by the Director of Special Crimes at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak, in his written statement, Thursday, (21/12).
Kombes Pol Ade Safri explained that the letter requesting a postponement of the examination was sent by the Law Office of Ian Iskandar & Partners Number: 251/IISPA/XII/2023 dated (20/12/2023). Ian Iskandar is Firli Bahuri’s attorney.
“Investigators consider that the reasons given in the letter are not appropriate and reasonable reasons,” said Kombes Pol Ade Safri.
On this basis, Kombes Pol Ade Safri said that investigators had sent a second summons for Firli to attend. However, the time and location of the examination were not explained.
“Investigators will send a second summons to the suspect,” he said.
Kombes Pol Ade Safri also explained, that Firli’s presence was necessary to ask for additional information regarding all property owned by his family that was not registered in the LHKPN. The assets in question include the assets of the wife, children and family. This is because investigators obtained new facts about other assets or property that the suspect, Firli Bahuri, did not report in the LHKPN.
According to him, regarding assets that have not been reported in the LHKPN, Firli has not explained them in the inspection report. As regulated in Article 28 of Law 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
The article states that for the purposes of investigation, the suspect is obliged to provide information about all his assets as well as the assets of his wife or husband. Likewise, the property of children and the property of any person or corporation known and/or suspected to have a connection with the criminal act of corruption committed by the suspect.
Previously, Firli was unable to attend the investigation into the alleged extortion case against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), because he had another agenda. This was conveyed by Firli’s attorney, Ian Iskandar. Bembo
