Jakarta – It is predicted that the 2024 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays will not be as busy as during the Eid holidays. However, Polda Metro Jaya is still preparing anticipation with a traffic engineering scheme to reduce congestion.
“The biggest problem is traffic jams. If it starts to get busy, there will be a bottleneck. We will try to make it run smoothly. I don’t think the Christmas holiday is as big as the Eid holiday,” said Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Karyoto, Monday, (19/12).
This statement was made by Kapolda Karyoto after holding a coordination meeting (rakor) with the TNI and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The coordination meeting was also attended by Pangdam Jaya Mayjen TNI Mohamad Hasan and Kadishub of DKI Jakarta, Syafrin Liputo.
Kapolda Karyoto said, that his party had mapped a number of vulnerabilities, including anticipating traffic jams. One of the traffic engineering efforts that will be carried out to overcome this is by implementing contraflow.
“Traffic security is very situational. For example, in H-2, H-1 there is extraordinary congestion, maybe we can contraflow on the toll road. This is very situational depending on the situation. If it’s smooth, that’s fine,” he said. Kapolda Karyoto emphasized. Bembo
