Jakarta – Inactive Corruption Eradication Committee Chairman Firli Bahuri seems panicked and nervous about undergoing his first pre-trial hearing before the Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol General Pol Karyoto at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, (11/12) yesterday. The nervousness and panic were very clear from the number of requests submitted to the panel of judges.
Starting from the request to cancel his status as a suspect because the process was deemed offside, to the accusation by the Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Pol Karyoto of being the mastermind behind the alleged extortion case which is now dragging him down. Firli accused Irjen Pol Karyoto of ‘directing’ former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) to make a public complaint (dumas) about the extortion case.
The Dirreskrimsus at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak, seemed reluctant to respond to Firli’s accusations against Irjen Pol Karyoto. He just bluntly said that SYL was not the author of the public complaint.
“SYL is not an official in handling the a quo case which is currently being investigated by the Investigation Team. And I say this clearly,” he said in a written statement to journalists, Monday, (11/12).
Even so, he was also reluctant to reveal the identity of the person who reported the alleged extortion of SYL. He said that his party had provided protection to complainants or public servants in accordance with applicable regulations.
“And it is our legal obligation to keep the identity of the pendumas a secret and provide protection to the pendumas and this is regulated in the applicable regulations,” he explained again.
Meanwhile, regarding the question of whether it was true that Irjen Pol Karyoto had given instructions for the alleged extortion to be reported, Kombes Pol Ade Safri seemed lazy in responding to the empty and made-up message. He only emphasized that his party’s guarantee was professional, transparent and accountable in investigating this case.
“Sorry, we don’t need to respond to empty messages that look like the result of a beautiful fabrication. What is clear is our guarantee that investigators are professional, transparent and accountable in carrying out their current investigative duties,” he emphasized.
As is known, the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri, who looked panicked and nervous at yesterday’s trial, said that the former Minister of Agriculture, SYL, made a report of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership to Polda Metro Jaya. SYL, said Firli, made the report because he was afraid of being made a suspect by the KPK. The alibi is that the report at Polda Metro Jaya was SYL’s attempt to hinder his designation as a suspect.
Firli may have given alibis and accusations as ‘ammunition’ for him to fight at the pre-trial hearing. It’s just that it’s as if he forgot that the ‘ammunition’ he was carrying was only the same class as 4.5mm caliber air rifle bullets.
